Terms
The terms for this site, and for the texts.
Two short sets of terms: for reading these pages, and for the text messages a school district sends to its own staff through Halyard. Effective 20 October 2026.
Who we are
Halyard is a sole proprietorship operated by Brian Kimberling in Washington, USA. Questions about these terms go to brian@halyardsafety.us. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington.
This website
These pages describe a product in development. They are offered as they are: we try to keep every statement on them true on the day it is written, and we say plainly where something has not yet been tested, but nothing here is a promise about what the product will do, and nothing here creates a contract to buy or supply anything. The words, drawings and the Halyard name are ours; you may quote them with attribution. The site creates no accounts and takes no payments.
The text-messaging program: Halyard safety alerts
A school district that runs a Halyard appliance can send text messages to its own staff: lockdown and all-clear notices, drills, and roll-call requests to which staff reply. The district decides who is enrolled and what is sent; we deliver the messages through our messaging provider. The program's terms:
Who receives messages
Employees of a district that runs Halyard, enrolled by the district after they consent to receive safety alerts by text on the consent form. Consent is never a condition of employment or of any purchase. A new recipient gets a message confirming the enrolment.
What and how often
Safety alerts and roll-call requests. Message frequency varies with the district's emergencies and drills; most staff receive a handful a year. Messages carry no advertising and no links.
Stopping
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. You will get one message confirming that, and no more. Reply START to enrol again. Stopping texts does not remove you from the district's other ways of reaching you.
Help
Reply HELP for help with the program. During a roll call, a HELP reply also tells your school that you need help. For anything else, contact your district's Halyard administrator or brian@halyardsafety.us.
Cost
We do not charge recipients. Your carrier's message and data rates may apply.
Delivery
Text messages depend on the mobile carriers, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Halyard is built so that a school's speakers and its own procedures never depend on a text arriving; a text is an addition to them, not a replacement.
Your information
How phone numbers and messages are handled is in the privacy policy. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Changes
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous version stays available on request.
