Privacy policy

What we collect, and what we do not.

Halyard is an on-premises notification system for schools. Most of what it handles never leaves the district that runs it. This page says what does, and what this website itself collects. Effective 20 October 2026.

Who we are

Halyard is a sole proprietorship operated by Brian Kimberling in Washington, USA. Questions about this policy go to brian@halyardsafety.us.

This website

These pages are static. They set no cookies, run no scripts, carry no analytics and have no forms. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps ordinary web-server logs — the address a request came from, the page asked for and when — which we do not use to identify anyone. If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is useful to answer you.

The product

A Halyard appliance runs on a school district's own premises and is operated by the district. The district is responsible for the information on it — its staff list, its speakers, its schedules — and decides who may see and change what. We do not receive a copy of that information, and we have no way into a district's appliance.

One kind of information does leave the appliance, because it has to: when a district sends a text, places an automated call or sends an email through Halyard, the recipient's phone number or email address and the message itself are handed to our messaging provider, Telnyx, to be delivered. That provider processes them under its own data processing agreement with us, in the United States, and keeps delivery records for a limited time; message text is kept by the provider for up to ten days. We use our access to those records only to deliver messages and to find out why one was not delivered.

When a staff member replies to a text — for example SAFE or HELP during a roll call — the reply travels the same way back to the district's appliance, which records it for the district. We do not read replies except to diagnose a delivery problem.

Text messages, in particular

Mobile phone numbers, and the consent to text them, are collected by the district from its own staff, not by us. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with anyone. The only sharing that happens is with the subcontractor that delivers the messages, for that purpose alone.

Anyone can stop receiving texts at any time by replying STOP, and can ask for help by replying HELP. The terms describe the messaging program.

What we do not do

No selling, no advertising

We do not sell, rent or trade any personal information, and we do not use it to advertise anything to anyone.

No children

Halyard reaches a district's staff, not its students. The website and the product are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under thirteen.

No tracking

No cookies, no advertising identifiers, no cross-site tracking, here or in the product.

Your choices and rights

If you are a member of a district's staff, your district controls the information about you on its appliance; ask it to correct or remove what it holds. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, say so and we will delete it. Where the law where you live gives you further rights over personal information, we will honour them; write to the address above.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous version stays available on request.
